13 DAYS TIL SURGERY!

Hello y'all! My name is Jennifer and I am 29 years old. I am 5'10" and currently weigh 361lbs. My highest weight ever has been 380lbs. I decided to do the gastric bypass after my PCP told me that my joints were deteriorating and that the weight is not helping. I have a ton of co-morbidities such as PCOS, depression/anxiety, arthritis, sleep apnea, I'm hypoglycemic, and a few others. I am just an all around mess. I am the stepmother to two boys ages 10 and 11, and they sure keep me on my toes. Because of the PCOS, I am unable to have children of my own right now, but that could all change after surgery :) I am tired of being big....it's kept me from soooooo many things in my life, and I will never again go back to what I am now. Every surgeon does things different, and mine has me on a 2 week pre-op diet to shrink my liver. I am on day 2 and not enjoying it one bit. I would eat salads all day long if they would let me....and NO not loaded down with garbage either. I CAN eat healthy, just chose not to. I'm a food lover.....food of all kinds......but then of course, they limit me right before surgery to things I DON'T really care for hahaha :D. Oh well, I'm doing this even if it kills me. I am going to be Thin and Tremendous at Thirty!!!!!!!!!! :)

Welcome girlie!! You have a great attitude!!! We are glad you found us!!

Hello! I also have been reading posts here for a few months. I am now 12 days from surgery and getting nervous. So, I thought I would jump in and say hey!

Welcome to you both. The next couple of weeks is going to seem like forever, but it will go by. I am telling you the last four weeks since surgery sure have went quicker then the four before,

Wishing you both the best, glad you found us and hope you share often. This place is a wealth of information and support, Again Welcome

@ MamaJenHen, first off Congrats on your decision. I too have the PCOS, Diabetes, High blood pressure, Fibromyalgia, etc. so I know how you feel with have so many issues that Gastric Bypass Surgery is the only hope left. The only differences are I'm 46 so as I say the "Kids" ship has sailed for me (I'm just too old to start having them now) and I'm 5'6" and at my highest weight I've been 375 which is where I actually started this whole journey at. My surgeon also is making me loose weight in the hopes of shrinking the liver to make the surgery easier so I know how that goes too. The only thing I'm really hating is the wait, I've had to do 6 months of nutrition classes and this month will be month number 4 so I won't be done until March and even though it's only technically two months away it feels like forever away.

I just want to get the surgery part over with but the closer I get to that point the more nervous I get. I'm pretty confident about the whole thing as I'm having mine done at one of the best hospitals in the country, specially for this type of surgery (Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston) so I know the doctors are among the best, but I still feel a bit nervous cause there is still an element of risk to all this. But the more I see all the people on this site and others, I can't help but think there are so many people who get through this surgery just fine, so that eases my worries.

But anyway, welcome aboard and good luck as you head into your surgery and new life.

Wow, thanks everyone for your kind and encouraging words :) I've got 10 days til surgery now, and I am doing lots better with the pre-op diet. If I keep myself busy and distracted, I can go w/out being hungry. I know it's not really right, but I went a long time yesterday without having anything from my list. My cousin's husband passed away and I went over there an hour after I got out of bed, so didn't have time to really do much, and got busy so I didn't think about food. I flubbed up and ate MAYBE 1 cup of popcorn at the basketball game, and that was just to get SOMETHING in my stomach to stop it from growling so bad. I then went to a friend's house and had my protein shakes and applesauce cups I had brought with me and hadn't had time to eat (they don't allow outside food or drinks at the school) And ate one more time when i got home and was under calories for the day when I went to bed.
