different for everyone in both diet requirements and how long pre-op it is so that makes a big difference in how much folks lose. Also have to factor in the starting weight. The best any of us can do is follow it strictly. Just doing that will shrink the liver which is the surgeon's biggest concern. I wasn't required to havce a pre-op liquid diet. I was told they wanted me to lose 10% of my body weight....would be 20 pounds but, I lost about 12 and they still did the surgery.

I lost a tiny amount of weight on a one month pre op liquid diet but the main benefits were a shrunken liver and behavior modification. My adjustment to post op life is easier in my opinion because of the one month pre op liquid diet. I did not start losing weight until about one week post op.

How much weight has everyone been able to lose on the pre op liquid diet before surgery?

I had to do a 2 week liquid diet & lost 16lbs

The program I'm in doesn't have you do a pre-op liquid diet

What kind of liquid diet? Maybe I can try if, I have to lose 20 pounds and I'm having trouble with it.
