Surgery Wounds

Does anyone else post op almost a week or so still have their staples in? If so, are they now hurting like hell? My cuts are healing but it's like the staples have stretched my skin a little, very sore.

  • I got steri strips (taped) as well. I'd call the doctor and have him take a look at them to see if they can be removed. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

The drain removal doesn't hurt but it's a feeling you won't forget. Just breathe through it and it will be over in quickly.

I am expecting to have my drain and my remaining staples removed this Friday. Removal of staples did not hurt. Does it hurt to have the drain removed? I'm a little nervous about that drain removal.

I had 3 drains..all I can say is I was glad they had 3 nurses to pull them all out at the same time :) not do much painful...strange tho lol

The nurse told me that the pulling out of the drain does not hurt but that removal of the suture holding the drain in place does hurt for some people. I've had my drain for two weeks so assume that there will be some pain involved. I dread it but I am so ready to get rid of this drain!

I had my drain removed friday. I would say the removal felt similar to getting pricked with a needle. It wasn't bad at all. Just breathe deeply. My doctor was talking to me and then he just took it out. It was a great distraction from him removing the tube

I am glad you all had a good experience with your drain removal. Me, not so much. It was excruciating. OMG i even cried.
