Post-Op Black Stool

Hello :) Monday I will be a week post op. I was wondering if black stool is normal for RNY surgery? I also have a horrid backache all the time. Thanks for your help.

I would call your surgeon. It is best to not let symptoms go unchecked. B

  • I think the back ache is fairly normal. I had it too and did some research online. The black stool could mean a bleed somewhere. I would get it checked out. Or at least call the Dr.

I had it 3 times too after surgery. Disgusting! But i got told it was just all the left over blood and stuff from the surgery and it was normal ... Scary but normal. The backache could just come from being in bed/ lying down more

Feel good!

Yes very normal... The doctor warnmed me before I was discharged. It's left over blood. No need to worry.
