Oh So Close!

I literally cannot wait. Tomorrow @ 1 is my pre op psych appt! Then next Wednesday is my upper endoscopy and then I am DONE! I stocked up on liquid diet foods today and I plan on starting it one week before surgery, Not required by my doctor but I thought that I would do it to mentally and physically prepare, something I decided since reading post from my peers on here :) But anyways I am so excited and I had to share!!! I have not told anyone besides my mom and my grandma. Anyone else keeping it under wraps??

Bariatric Advantage protein shakes and bars are both good. They also sell vitamins and any of the supplements you'll need post-op. My surgeon requires that buy this product but I have come like it better than the other proteins shakes I've previously tried. www.bariatricadvantage.com

I have a bunch of pre surgery requirements that have to be done' date=' different blood work, a upper endoscopy, meet with a psychiatrist and a nutritionist, and some even requite a liquid diet two weeks before surgery, luckily mine does not :) But you have to do all that stuff before they will even schedule you for surgery.[/quote']

Ok just got a letter through, I've got my ore op appointment on Friday and I start my diet, I'm going to go have my last fast food feast Thursday :-)

The big day is getting close for a lot of us. I'm just on day 2 of the 14-day preop liquid diet. Lots of different topics in this thread, but I had 2 particular replies.

1. I have told several people, both in my family and at work. At work I've kept it pretty general, just saying I'm having bariatric weight loss surgery. I want my team and co-workers to know what is going on because the reality is they're GOING TO notice! I don't want people thinking (or rumoring) that there's something wrong with me (like seriously ill health) causing the weight loss. I want them to know the real story and, frankly, I don't mind the congratulatory comments and encouragement. But that's just me.

2. I was instructed on the pre-op liquid diet to avoid fruit juices due to the high sugar content. It is important to get in the Protein to maintain your energy too. You may want to talk to your doctor about it and get his/her input. They won't likely tell you NOT to do it because the purpose of the liquid diet is to shrink your liver and make surgery safer for you and easier for your surgeon. If you want to do it, just be sure to understand the risks involved and your doctor is the best person to help there.

Talk to you later, everyone!

I'm currently on say 6 of my 14 day pre-op diet :) almost halfway there
