Try moving from the pain pills to melatonin. It is a natural non-addictive sleep aid. Sells in the vitamin area. Bu as recommended you should be free of distractions (no tv, no reading) take it and lay down. It will not knock you out like a narcotic but may help.

You can also try valerian root. Make sure you get the one without the odor.

I had trouble sleeping until a week after I was back to work. Now all I want to do is sleep.

My doctor said not was ok to take ambien. I have no problem swilling them since they are oblong and not round.
