New Here :) 8Yrs Post-Op

Hi everyone! Had RNY in March of 2004 at 239 lbs. At one year anniversary weighed in at 128, weight loss of 111 lbs, and looked very sick. Eventually came up 12 lbs, leveled off and at 140 was soo happy. Maintained for a while and over the past 2yrs I've gained 32 lbs and now weigh 172!!! I go to the gym 3-4 x wk and joined Weight Watchers Points Plus. Lost 6, then it came back. I can't seem to get it off and very discouraged. Has anyone heard of the 5 Day Pouch Test? I started it today. I just can't go back to my old self. Very down. Anyone have any suggestions? My surgeon retired and I found that no other dr wanted to follow his work, why, I don't know yet. Finally got an approval to be seen by the new dr's at my hospital and going in after our family vacations next month. I've been trying to refamiliarize myself with the rules, do's and dont's and can see where I've strayed. So glad I found this forum. Really could use some inspiration. I've also been reading on revisions, a shot that will make your pouch tighter, etc... Any help would be so very much appreciated. Thanks!

Jackie, it's funny you mentioned Carnie...I remember watching her going into the hospital in her white sweatshirt and thinking if she can do it, so can I! And she's what started my journey. I watched

My3stars, 5DPT was good, really good! I wasn't trying to lose weight with it, just see if my pouch was still working and tight, or if I broke it or stretched it. In the 5days I lost 5.4 lbs. it's given me new hope. I realized what I've been doing wrong and working very hard to correct it. I still have an appt at the end of next month to get some well needed follow up care and guidance. I'll let the dr tell me if I need a revision or the injection I read about. Possibly just sitting with the dietician will do the trick. I'm on my way.... 5.4 down and 26.6 to go!!! Which revision are you doing? How did you come to need it? You can message me personally if you like. We can always use each other for support. =)

I watched Carnie's revision back in March it went well and she had lost a lot of weight within the first two weeks that I watched. Good luck with both of you ladies in your revisions and its real nice to know that there is a plan B for when I'm long term. I admire you all's commitment! Go team!: )

I am doing the rny revision. I had lost a total of 170 lbs and over the last two years have gained 53 of it back. I decided to go back to my surgeon and after a serious of test I have a dialated anastamosis. He decided the best thing was to re-do the rny. I was very honest with him and know that some of this was me falling into bad habits, but I knew not all of it was. To this day i still do not drinks anything carbonated or drink with my meals. My pouch itself was not stretched but the food basically is emptying too quickly and my anemia is pretty bad from not absorbing. Thank you so much for your reply and yes it would be great to support each other!

I am doing good. Im on full liquids now. Thursday I get to start pureed foods. Yes! I went back to work yesterday and I worked out. Boy was I tired last night.

Rhon how long did u take off work?

I was out for two Weeks. Probably could have been out for a week. But since I was in the hospital for four days, I took another week and glad I did.

I just had surgery Friday 7/6. My dr told me 3 weeks. Right now I feel like I could take all three. I'm on clear fluids and think I'll do better when I get to the all fluids stage. Glad you could make it back so soon. How do you set up your food intake at work?

I take a cooler to work with my water, proteins, jello, apple sauce etc... I also have a little blender. I try to keep the same schedule I had at home.

Rhon' date=' sounds like you're doing great!! Keep the faith and stay strong![/quote']

She sure is better then me. Sometimes to forget to eat

Thank you. At times I wonder if I am eating too much or too little.

I heard Carnie Wilson Phillips is having a revision. I heard her talking on Dr. Oz and she had RNY...and now they are going to put a Lapland around the pouch somehow. I guess there are many ways you can get a revision.

Her procedure is called Band Over Bypass AKA BOB. This revision procedure is great for people that regained weight lost after having the gastric bypass. Carnie got the Lap Band placed over her Gastric Bypass procedure. She's now a spokeswomen for the Lap Band.
