Questions

Hi ALL!! I haven't yet even brought it to my doctors attention about my considering the gastric bypass surgery. So many of my family members and a free friends have had it... I haven't really spoken to anyone about getting this done since I'm kinda nervous. How long after deciding you wanted to do the surgery did it take for it to happen?

It depends on your insurance. All of them are different. Mines was 6 months. It worked out well because it gives you time to decide if it's really what you want to do. My date is April 23rd.

The whole process took about 4 months starting with the referral by my pcp to the bariatric doctor. I actually started the process with the psychologist, nutritonist, etc appointments right away. I recieved the insurance approval mid way.

Thanks, I have my appointment with my doctor next week to discuss it... Crossing my fingers!!!

I started my journey last October. Went to an informational meeting & then started my appointments. Didn't have much trouble with insurance. I was so nervous to tell my doctor about my decision but in the end she was happy for me.

I am self pay and have been doing the journey without the consent of my pcp! My date is set for June 5 and plan on telling them next week ! Hope they are not upset!

Hi! I just had my surgery on April 18th.

How are you feeling?

Feeling great today! Went for a long walk this morning! Yay me! Thanks!

Well the majority of the insurance required 6mon dietician evaluation plus others Pre-ops procedures to be done as your health condition may required; PFT, EKG, Endocospy, & etc again it all depends on your health condition - good luck & welcome to the forum ;)
