Hello,

My name is Annette Leyba. I am from Midland, Texas and I was reading your messages. I feel for everyone of you. I seem to have alot in common with Kat the lady with the hypothyroid. I have had Hoshimotos now for 17 years. Yes, I started to gain weight and at first it was welcome. The first 10lbs. were good in all the right places. However I now weigh 260lbs. and I haven't grown any taller.

I am 44 yrs. old a mother of 3 and I amvery depressed. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield through my employer and i was told the weight loss surgery is absolutley not covered.

I also have Tricare Standard since my husband is retired military. I don't knowwhether it covers the surgery.

I have many issues with my weight: high cholesterol, arhtritis, knee surgery and the other is not in good shape.

I am probably not making sense, giving all this at once, but his is the first time I have heard people say how I feel. I feel very trapped. I don't know what to do to keep from not crying.

Thank you for this forum

Thank you all for welcoming me to the forum.

Ambrosia, what a beautiful name. Is this yours? or is it a made up one?

I cannot think of anything clever to use.

I just joined the forum today. I am scheduled to have the lap band on 2/5/07. I was going to have it done last fall, but I, too, have Blue Cross Blue Shield and they were not covering the surgery last year. However, they are covering it beginning in 2007. I have Federal BCBS but I would think all BCBS policies would cover the lap band now. Please call your BCBS office to check again. Don't give up and good luck.
