January 20, 200719 yr Good morning, I will be traveling to Toronto (TLBC ) for my surgery. They say that you have to have someone to come pick you up after surgery. What happens if you don't. Do they make you stay there longer ?
January 30, 200719 yr I also wanted to tell you that at the TLBC meeting we were told about this clear Protein drink that we can have post-op. Just so you know, you can have any Protein Drink you want after surgery! If you find one you can stand, whether it's cheap or expensive, hold on to it!
January 31, 200719 yr Why wear a speedo in the hot tub Gaffer ;when you can just wear nothing lol. I like the way you think Loriely!
January 31, 200719 yr Why wear a speedo in the hot tub Gaffer ;when you can just wear nothing lol. 2 words: Filter Intake No really. It could be an option, but could lead to embarrasing situations. We were in in the tub the other night when this guy show up in our back yard & is like we have your pizza. Now I am doing Optifast, so I though this guy was a message from God and that my prayers were answered. Turns out it was a mistake. Now ladies, behave. I am the lone male here. Andrew
January 31, 200719 yr Gaffer that's hilarious. Last time I was in Mexico this fool of a guy was walking around in the shallow end of the pool so that everyone could see his package. It was also a T-bar type. Yuck... I think I took a pic. of it...I'll see if I can find it and post it for your viewing pleasure. Speedo wearing tip:Remember to tuck the potato in the front not the back.
January 31, 200719 yr Just so you know, you can have any Protein drink you want after surgery! If you find one you can stand, whether it's cheap or expensive, hold on to it! Even during the clear fluids phase?
January 31, 200719 yr Ahhhh.. no. I thought when she said "post-op" she meant for the rest of your life, after surgery. But if she meant during the post-op diet, that would make more sense... because that stuff is clear... ahhh... yes, I get it now. I do have some unflavoured "Unjury" Protein powder.. I don't know if it would be clear dissolved in juice or whatever, cause I only had it in milk. They say you can put it in warm liquids like Soup or coffee.. but I've yet to try that. Anyways, yeah, ISOPURE sounds good... I just wish there was a GNC near me. Are they pre-mixed drinks? Do they TASTE like Gatorade? How pricey is pricey?
January 31, 200719 yr Author I will go to GNC tomorrow, or should I say latter today and let you know !
January 31, 200719 yr Author I am the queen of type O's Do they actually stitch the stomach to the band ? (maybe it was the stomach over the band, it was something like that ) I saw that on I LapBand surgery site. They said that it helps prevents slips
January 31, 200719 yr Good Morning all... Um...GNC sells protein water (clear) I used it the last time I tried Atkins...it's not bad.
January 31, 200719 yr Yes Yasmina, the band should be stitched in a few locations to the stomach to help better anchor it. Not all doctors do this. Rest assured that at TLBC, it is done in that manner.

Anyways, yeah, Isopure sounds good... I just wish there was a GNC near me. Are they pre-mixed drinks? Do they TASTE like Gatorade? How pricey is pricey? I will look for that Protein Powder. I have been trying to find a good one and it seems like every bottle I pick up is for mammoth bodybuilders, not weight-loss minded me. So thanks for the tip. As for the isopure, it is about 7 dollars for a bottle and is pre-mixed - it pretty much looks just like Gatorade. (I haven't tasted it yet. I didn't want to waste it until I actually needed a $7 drink!) Same flavours, etc. I justified the price by looking at it as just another expense to add on to the already insane amount of money I will be shelling out for this surgery. Plus, I can't think of another way to get protein in during the clear liquid phase, and I am told that protein intake is an important aide to healing. Who knows... I am so new at this, I might be wrong!
