I'm all alone, please help...

I am desperately reaching out right now at this very moment. I know these forums are to be a support system but, this is all I really have and it is not helping me as much as I need it too. My husband, bless his heart, is being as supportive as he can. He is a negative thinker when it comes to drastic measures like this. "It is surgery, you can die," he says. "I want to live the rest of my life with you," he says. He is a long story to explain.

I understand what he is saying and I want to live right along with him until we are old and grey (well, we've already started the grey part, LOL). But, I won't make it to being old when carrying around an extra 100 pounds with me. He has seen me going on countless diets, sign-up for many gym memberships, he's seen me losing weight and he's seen me crash and burn.

I won’t make this long as I will get to the point. I live in the New Port Richey area and am REALLY looking for a female friend who hasn’t had the surgery yet or who has had the surgery and may be all along like I am. Possibly live nearby so we can help one another go through this together. As I said, I am all alone and I’m scared to be alone in this journey. I know it is the right thing for me to do and I need to be with people who are on the same boat as I am. It is very hard for me to get support even from my family as they are too busy in their own lives.

Okay, this is my S.O.S. please reach out to me; you know who you are…

  • You're not alone as long as you're around here. Even with a personal support group we sometimes feel alone and I find this is my best source of empathy support and WLS friends. Hang in there

  • You are not alone! We are going to do this together!! I am on same day at the same hospital! I got you girl! I am sending you my contact info in a private message! Stay strong my sleeve buddy! Xo

I don't have an exact date set either but we think mine will be in November as well. Very excited to do this but have a few fears - like if I succeed or fail. Been on so many weight loss programs in the past & have failed .... I am also trying to slow down on eating & working on portion control. My biggest problem right now is I am a Dt Mtn Dew junky & am trying to break away from the habit. I've been trying to drop a bottle each week & I have reached the week without any - can't figure out how to wake up in the morning!!!!!

Ok new port richey folks! I'm in saint Pete and just was sleeved on Sept third. I wasn't real hip on taking extra time to go to a support group but realized I "go" every day coming to this forum. Feel free to contact me privately but honestly people on this site have helped me with so many nutritional, emotional , and medical worries pre and post. You'll be fine. Let your excitement shine thru girl

Huskers, I was a diet coke fool. Dropped pop a year and a half ago. Realized I didn't need the caffeine but like a glass of unsweetened ice tea in the am every so often. ... Congrats on cutting pop out.

There are support group at your hospital check with your dietician or nurse practioner good luck.

Yes, I have met with everyone and have one more appointment to do an endoscopy this Thursday then all will be completed. I see my dr on the 20th for my pre-op appointment and surgery is on the 25th. I have found a couple of people since posting this topic on here. Thank you so very much for your reply. P.s. I like Tedd too. Lol

VST is okay but it doesn't come close to being a support group. I cannot over-emphasize how important it is to get face-to-face with other patients and actual experts in the bariatric field - they are very few and far between here at VST.
