I'm officially 1 week post op and Im going to eat some mashed potatoes; I've been eating creamy Soups fine; so you think mash is too much if it's not thick?

My nutritionist said that was fine. Check with yours. Thin it with some milk and you will get some Protein out of it, too.

Wow, I had to be on liquids a full two weeks! I'm just now doing pureed food. So not fair :(

It was two weeks for me, too, until my NUT's plan allowed soft foods...even then (and now still at 4 months post-op) my NUT's plan is no starchy carbs--no rice, bread, potatoes, Cereal, crackers, etc.....I very rarely cheat with this rule, and the few times I have, it's only been a bite or two

Whatever your stomach can tolerate, I cheated in the beginning and I still find that no matter what my body knows when I'm ready for something or not. Just be comfortable .

I know when I get to full foods, startchy potatoes won't be on my list, so I've avoided them this week even though they are approved.....poor hubby, because it means he's avoiding them as well 'cuz I won't cook them LOL

Mashed potatoes aren't the most nutritionally sound food right now. Lots of starch and carbs. If you want something like that try mashed cauliflower. I personally don't care for it, but a lot of people love it.

Right now the main focus should be Protein and fluids. When further out adding mashed potatoes on occasion is fine.

Sleved on 8/6/13.

I tried mashed potatoes for the 1st time the other day, however, they gave me horrible heartburn. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
