Has anyone else experienced this? I'm almost two weeks post-op and there's a hard, cylindrical lump in the back of my hand that hurts like hell. It also seems to have turned (used to be parallel to my fingers) and migrated down to my wrist. Do you think it's possible something got left in there when they took the IV out? It really frickin' hurts!

That happened to me in my arm after my gallbladder surgery and it went away. After getting sleeved, my IV spot was sore for 2 weeks. The vein it was inserted in is now hard. I never paid much attention to it before surgery. I was pissed they put it in my hand! LoL! Hope the lump goes away soon!

Please call your doctor and have them take a look to make sure it isn't infected. Better safe than sorry!

Totally normal. Put heat on it and it will go away slowly. I have this happen almost every time I have an IV.

I had it for 2 weeks, not 4. Sounds like an infection... Best to get it checked.

I'm only 2 weeks post-op. Where did you get 4 from? Do you know someone who had this for 4 weeks?
