I feel like poop!

I think I'm dehydrated because my saliva is abnormally thick. I've drank more fluids today then any other day hoping to feel better. But I feel just as horrible right now as I did early this morning. I have this horrible lump in my throat that makes me feel like I need to vomit but I'm afraid to cause I'm only 7 days post op. and I have a horrible headache

It may be a caffeine headache?

The first week or two can be miserable.

That said are you measuring out your fluid intake to know who much you are getting in a day?

A lot of people don't do that and end up in the ER for dehydration! Best to avoid that if you can.

It's hard to swallow yes but that will get better.

Dehydration basically comes from one of two things, extreme physical exertion or lack of Water intake.

I've only been able to get about 25oz in a day so far. But today's closer to 40.

I feel like my stomach isn't emptying though. I feel so full! I'm afraid I'm going to burst my sleeve.

And all I have had for 7 days is clear liquids...

My hubby went and got me pedialyte and mr drs office is closed... I'm seriously thinking about drinking it just so I don't have to go get an iv

Can you try drinking 1 oz every fifteen minutes?

And are you drinking plain Water?

Plain water is really hard at first you definitely want to add some drops of water enhancer!

For 14 days I could consume nothing but water and not enough of it. Took me 10 minutes to consume 1 ounce. Was miserable for weeks. Hang in there and call your dr. as soon as you can. It took the aid of my dietician in her office to nurse me through and I was able to avoid re-hospitalization. I promise it will get better but some tummies react harsher than others and mine did! It was awful but I got through it and now am a much happier 85 pounds lighter! Hang in there!!!

Thank you everyone for your advice and support.

Half a bottle of pedialyte a Popsicle a few sips of orange juice *cringes*- (this scared me to death to drink but i needed to get my blood sugar up just a little) and some broth from home made veggie beef Soup and I am feeling LOTS better!!

Going to continue sipping pedialyte and beef broth threw the night and pray this never happens again! :-S

There you go girlie! Just remember hydration is key!i In the beginning it feels like a full time job because it is! :D

The lump in your throat could be reflux. Does your doc have you on omneprazole?

  • Author

Yes I'm on an omneprazole. Also on anti nausea and something to prevent throat spasms? I fell asleep early last night and awoke a few hours later and it was gone.. I'm thinking stress or just an upset tummy. Feeling lots better today!

What Laura-ven said. I was threatened with going back to the hospital for dehydration. I drank all of my 6oz that day! I couldn't afford another hospital stay. Little sips ALL DAY LONG. :0). You can do it. Remember that having Protein will help you heal and liquid Protein is still a liquid.

Good luck!
