Gas pains

I am 2 days post op and am doing fairly well. The biggest problem I have is when I drink anything I have gas pains when it hits my stomach and that is the worst part. Is this pretty normal?

Did you get a prescription for something like Protonix? If no, you can get a chewable form of Pepcid at Walgreen's. That helps with the stomach acid.

Also, do you have GasX strips? They help cut down the gas pains. In addition, I chew Gaviscon ( the original flavor) when acid/gas builds up. It tastes like butterscotch. Chew it really well, and when it foams up, then swallow. It coats your stomach.

It is totally normal and will get better. Make sure your liquids are room temp and you take smaller sips than you think you need to.

That was when I started those nasty gas pains also. It did get better when I was able to get back on Nexium which I was on before surgery. They have gotten better during eating now. Hang in there!
