Pre Op Diet Disaster

I'm literally in tears because I am 12 days out from surgery and just stuffed my face with a double cheeseburger, large fry and about 20 cheese puffs! I was doing so good on my liquid diet from Monday to about 20 minutes ago. OMG! Does this mean I will pay for surgery and get opened up only to be closed and told that I cant have the surgery and they are keeping my money? I am so STUPID! I had my shake ready but started thinking about how hungry I was. I know its because I was off work today and didn't drink my first shke until about noon. I am ready to get back on the wagon and not do this again. Am I too late?

  • Thank you so much. Yesterday was the push that has me planning ahead and not allowing myself to get hungry anymore. I am thankful that it was 12 days out and after calming down and taking those 10 s

  • No. Just get back on track and stick with it like it's your new religion from now til your surgery. However, if you can't get thru the pre-op diet without cheating you may not be ready to do this.

  • Take a deep breath. Actually take ten of them. Normally I don't side with those who go off their Pre-ops, but you are being SO hard on yourself!!! If you are 12 days out, you should be ok. Let your

Don't worry about it. I am not condoning it but I also get it! I had a bucket list of restaurants that I went to before I started by liquid diet. This helped me to get through it. I don't think you messed up your surgery date at all. If you are really hungry and need something my surgeon told me an occasional small piece of lean meat with some steamed veggies was just fine. Hang in there!

thank you!

Don't beat yourself up. Just get back on the diet. Thank goodness we have this forum to help us out. Just so you don't go to McDonalds again. They are the biggest worm manufacturer in America. Maybe that will keep you away. Good luck.

OMG! Worms? Explain please. Thanks though as I need to keep my babies away from the happy meals anyway. Lol.

So jealous, but I really think this phase is preparing me for after surgery. I have been buying all my Vitamin addins for my Protein shakes, chewables and so on. I can tell you that the Callogen powder in my morning shakes have everyone saying that my skin is glowing. Go figure. I was using it to combat the hair thinning issue ahead of time. I have also ordered Omega 3 pouches, calcitrate and a bunch of other supplements. Good luck with your 3 days of restriction. Do you know what liquids are considered clear? I have to do that for a full day. Thanks.

What shakes did you choose to use for the pre-op diet? I start my liquid diet on the 29th and my NUT suggests Atkins ready to drink shakes.

A few years back my husband and myself were watching I think it might have been the discovery channel not sure. How mcdonalds isn't just the food industry that they do a lot of other things. They manufacture worms for fishing and science studies. ( I'm not saying the worms are in their food). HOWEVER. I love their southwest salads only 460 calories with dressing & chicken.

I have been drinking the atkins shakes for years and I really like them. I have recently discovered that combining a 1/2 cup skim milk with my Vitamin powders (callogen) tastes really good and makes the drink less sweet.

I guess that is where everyone is different b/c I can't stand the Atkins shakes! Clear liquid for me is definedas anything I can see through. Jello, popsicles, apple juice, sprite, broth. I am allowed to have items with caloriesduring my clear liquid day.

I'll definitely give it a try. Which flavors do you prefer? I read reviews that the creamy chocolate is best. But, I would like to purchase a couple flavors for a variety.

I like the atkins advantage milk chocolate and the caramel cafe (coffee flavor). I don't like their vanilla but can tolerate it...the strawberry taste horrid to me.

Your not to late and don't drink that stuff to much will make you sick! Start over I tripped up few times the two weeks before! I am two weeks out now and doing good.

Ok, I think I have to do that for one day. It should be no problem after this.
