Considering Surgery

:help: Hi, I'm considering the lap band but my fear is that I don't have the willpower to go through the pre-diet phase? What are you allowed to eat during this phase? I weigh 270 lbs and need to loose 150 lbs; i'm terrified i don't have the willpower do do this even after the surgery.

I need someone to tell me the truth without sugar coating anything...........

Mugly.....very scared

Different Doctors Have Different Pre-op Diet Restrictions. Mine Was Full Liquid And No Sugars For 10 Days Before Surgery. Alot Of Docs Don't Require Any Special Diet. You Will Have To Consult With The Surgeon To Find Out His Or Her Diet Requirements. I Will Not Lie And Say That It Is Easy. Until You Change Your Mind Set About Food Nothing Will Change. I Am Still Struggling With That. I Have Only Lost 36lbs Since September And Most Was Lost On The Pre-op Diet. Every Day You Have To Choose To Commit To Change. I Will Say That I Don't Think I Could Have Lost What I Have Without The Band. Don't Think This Is A Miracle Way Of Weight Loss, Every Pound Is Still Hard Work. Make Sure That You Have No Hesitation At All Before You Make The Choice Of Lap-band. Just Like Anything If Your Not 100% Sure It Just May Not Be The Right Time For You Just Yet. Again, I Love My Band, But I Was 1,000% Sure It Was The Right Time For Me. Good Luck On Your Journey, Whatever You Choose, I Wish You The Best.

I didn't have a preop diet, but if I did I'm sure I would have cheated. Don't worry too much. Just do the best you can do. Either way you will be okay for surgery. Good luck.

Hello,

I know you will do great.... The pre diet is very hard, but after day 5 you will get so used to it. Stick to what ever your doctor suggests. They are the professionals and they know BEST...

I will be here for you every step of the way....

All the best with your BAND....
