ok....so let me ask this...Did you ask the dr or did he tell you? my surgeon is a man of very few words...after surgery the only time I even saw him is when he poked his head in my room and told me I was good to go home.

I also asked...

I also asked & mine is a 36 Italian! ;)

Is there really such thing?

I don't think so.....I was trying to be silly! ;)

My surgeon used a 40 bougie. I asked him because I had seen it discussed here. And I've lost 19.2 BMI points and if EWL is calculated based on the high end of normal BMI, I lost more than 100% of my excess weight.

I recently asked the hospital for a copy of my medical records and that's how I found out my surgeon used a 40. There is no doubt I have restriction and I'm down over 30 lbs in 8 weeks, so there's no complaints here! Plus, I feel better knowing the larger the size the less chance of complications!

Mine is a 36 Fr. It works :)

Very interesting... I had no idea about this until reading this thread so needless to say I have just emailed my Dr.... Thanks for the thread as I am very curious now. I was sleeved on 5/24 and have had no issues or complications...

Let us know newcarter.....

My Dr emailed back and he uses a 40f Bougie. I guess that is pretty standard for Kaiser from what I was told.... I was glad to hear that is what was used....
