At sticking to this pre-op diet. I'm seriously losing my mind over here. It's not necessarily the diet but it's all this **** I'm having to deal with right now on top of the diet (personal life issues, preparing for surgery, paying bills before surgery, etc.) I just keep cheating and feeling horrible, cheating and feeling horrible. I don't understand why I can't just stick to it! I crack under pressure a lot and the stress I'm having to deal with is really getting to me. Oh not to mention I'm PMSing. My boyfriend hates me right now, I've been such a b***h! I just want this surgery to be over with but then at the same time I'm having second thoughts. I'm worried I'm gonna be one of those people that just constantly pushes the limit on food. Ugh I shouldn't even be thinking like this. I DON'T want to be like this. I just have no willpower and it just makes me depressed. Honestly I don't care if I'm fat, I've never had a problem with how I look. I'm getting this surgery for my health. I feel like I should mean more to me and I should take this diet more seriously but yet I just ate fried rice on Sunday. I feel pathetic right now :/

Jeez that was long and I could just keep going! So many thoughts running through my head, May 28th can't come soon enough!

Thank you to anyone who actually takes the time to read this.

Calm down. Cheating is fine just stick to it the best you can right now. I cheated the whole time during mine but was able to lose 20lbs just from not drinking soda. After surgery is when you need to control what you eat and its easier with a smaller stomach.

Relax just have a cheat day or two. Eat good mon-fri and cheat sat and sunday or something like that. Just cut out small things like soda and big Snacks.

I guess I'm really not giving myself that much credit. I haven't had any soda or sweet tea this whole time. That's a plus I guess, lol.

yes its a big plus. all the extra calories and sugar in soda you are not drinking now. Just cutting that out you will lose weight. Next cut out some fast food try only eating fast food maybe 2 days a week. slowly work you way into it. Quitting everything at once is harder then limiting a little bit at a time to break your habbits.

I'm not sure what pre surgery diet you are doing but I have not has trouble with mine so far and I started it last Wed. I guess I thought you had to be strict with the diet so I haven't cheated at all. I kind of feel like this is a big decision and doing this diet is just only a stepping stone to get to the surgery. It's a huge like change and I think one should really think about it before deciding to do it. If you are serious about losing weight then you can do it. Stay strong!

I'm on a 2 week all liquid diet. I have 2 jobs and just recently quit the 3rd so I think all the working I've been doing has just made me really weak. I've just felt shaky a lot of the time. I haven't eaten fast food at all or had any soda or calorie filled drinks but I definitely haven't followed the diet to a T. I have little bites of stuff here and there. A piece of a banana, spoonful of Peanut Butter, a slice of deli meat. The craziest was the fried rice. It was homemade so it wasn't too bad for me but still, that's no excuse. What's your diet like and when's your surgery date?

You don't suck. You're human and like many of us here, we are here because we have a problem with food. Liz is right, try your best, fight as much as you can, if you fall off the bandwagon, dust yourself off and get back on. You can do this!

Some habbits are hard to break. Some people cant just turn it off when they need to. If I could just turn off my cravings and feeling hungry all the time I would have just done it and never had surgery. Cutting out soda was like a mini detox for me. I was moody had bad head aches wasnt very nice to be around. After about 2 weeks I was fine havent thought about soda since.

My biggest habbit was eating late at night because I work nights. I would get off around 1am and stop at mcdonnalds because i was to tired to go home and cook. I could eat a whole pizza and a foot long sub and be hungry 30mins to a hour later. My stomach was streched out that my doctor said it was about 4 times bigger then a normal stomach.

My diet is much easier.

2 Protein shakes a day

4 ounces lean meat and 1 cup vegetables for dinner

I can also have 3 Snacks a day like a boiled egg, cheese stick or 1/4 cup cottage cheese

All liquid diet would be very hard. My surgery date is 5/29.

I'm Liz and I'm the one that sucks, lol. But thank you for the encouragement! It really does help. I feel like I beat myself up too much but then again I don't wanna just be care free about the whole think you know? Finding a happy medium is tough.

I'm not passing any kind of judgement. Trust me none of us would be here if we didn't have a problem with food. I was just under the impression the pre-surgery diet was a big deal. Like I said my diet is not that difficult to follow because its not a liquid diet.

I was in the same situation. I HATE cooking too so that doesn't help. Hopefully that's something I eventually start to enjoy! I'm curious to see what my dr says about my pre sleeved stomach when he's in there.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
