Revision on May 6th no pre-op liquid diet.

I am having my revision on May 6th and I am really really nervous. I have no pre-op diet which I found weird. When banded 12/21/11 I had to eat a high protein no carb diet but not a liquid diet. I am wondering if it is because I am down to low 160's and eat mostly protein already. Also, I went from diabetic to low sugar issues and I am wondering if sugar will make me ill after the revision. It did not after the band. Even eating a small amount of popsicles, juice or jello with sugar will keep my sugar a bit more stable. I no they say sugar free but I get sick if my sugar gets too low. Has anyone else had or heard of this from anyone else?

That is exactly it! You don't have the liver shrinkage needed by heavier pts. I did not have pre-op diet either. Good luck

Sugar made me ill, ice cream was the worst. Sweet was very nauseating postop for 4 -5 months.

That sounds about right. If you're in the low 160's then your BMI is likely at a level that indicates you don't have the fatty liver that most of us high (or even relatively high) BMI'ers have. Just keep up with your healthy diet as usual and say a quiet thank you to the pre-op gods! ;) lol

Do you need to do a clear liquid diet the 24hours before surgery or anything? That's the only thing I would ask about since generally that's a requirement for most surgeries, but especially bariatric! Good luck on your revision!! Let us know how you do!!

Thanks everyone, I am getting very nervous now. i had to start swabbing my nose with this stuff to prevent MRSA which i didnt have to do last time and wash with hipoclense bacteria wash for five days. I do not have to do a liqued diet at all but I probalbly will for 24 hours just to clean myself out.
