I can't believe it is done.

Well I had my surgery done on 4/17. It was not as bad as I had anticipated. I just felt so lucky having found this website and knowing what to expect. Thank you all so much. I get to go home tomorrow. When my doctor came in yesterday he told both my husband and me how shocked he was at how much fat I had. He said he feels this surgery will definitely prolong my life. He said I should have had it done years ago. My BMI was only 38. So for you cash payers out there yes I do believe it is worth it. I hope to join you all on the losers bench very soon.

Congratulations!!! Doesn't most insurance cover VSG at a BMI of 35 or above with at least one comorbidity?

Most might, but there are some plans (read: mine) that have a total bariatric exclusion policy. I was cash pay despite having a BMI over 50, high BP, etc.
