VSG Urban Legends

  • Popular Post

Are there any VSG urban legends that you can think of that you have debunked?

The 1st one I can think of is: I won't feel hungry after surgery.

Sure the part of our stomach that produces ghrelin is gone and our physical hunger is reduced or even eliminated... but no one can tell me that "head hunger" doesn't feel real and powerful!

That getting in all your Protein, taking Biotin or washing your hair with nioxin will keep you from losing your hair. NOT!

I heard that and almost didn't get it because of that I started at 317 so that scared me!!! Ill be 2 mo On the 25th and I will be at 50 lb loss at that time! Congrats on your loss!!

Sent from my iPhone using VST

Thanks! You too! You're off to a great start!!

That you'll end up a blithering drunk if you touch a drop of anything tasty....

(I started out a blithering drunk so I'm safe from that one LOL)

Actually the biggest...that there are any absolutes. I can't eat much sugar or chocolate. I find many unhealthy foods make me really sick. I don't get drunk if I have a drink (it's actually less potent).

This one scares me! I postponed my surgery because I found out less than 2 weeks before that a relative of a good friend was in the hospital dying of liver failure. She had cross addicted to alcohol after surgery to deal with her problems because she couldn't eat and alcoholism runs in my family so it concerned me. She died at age 32 and left 3 kids behind. = (

You can never have a sip of anything carbonated........not true.

I cannot believe no one said this... Especially Laura.

Put a little bougie in it. :-o

Lmao!!!!! Y'all are hilarious!

That if you bend over after eating, you will throw up.

Everyone needs plastic surgery after WLS

A two week preop diet is a must to shrink the liver.

Everybody gets a catheter.

Sex always gets better- haha

By the way my bougie is a 22 French (ooh la la)

Oh man that would scare me too. I love my wine and can't imagine giving it up for life. But I certainly don't want to end up a drunk or dead as a result of this.

On a serious note (sorry guys) cross addiction is very real and is something to be aware of EVEN if you never had a drinking problem before.

Don't be scared, be aware and go into this surgery with information and a support system

(Counseling) in place..

Ok back to the fun and games :P
