Has anyone been approved without the 6 months weight loss supervised diet? Or maybe approved by only having 39.9 bmi an sleep apnea? I just want to know and see where I stand with my insurance once my paper work is submitted. Thank u!

My Insurance only required a three month pre diet, and it didn't require me to lose any weight on the diet to qualify for the surgery. My insurance is independent blue cross.....

I should have said I have healthfirst and through medicaid here in NY. I really hope once my surgeon receives all the results and clearance I don't have to finish the 6 months, however I am on my third month! :D I'm hoping something by July or August! I'm so excited and nervous!!

You need to check with your company. Insurance varies based on what plan your company negotiated with the insurance company. good luck with your journey.

I did try but according to the representative they don't know, but I'm sure she was just trying to give me a hard time. That won't take my excitement away thinking I'm soooo close. I'll try again tomorrow. Thank u!!

Yea I would try again and hopefully you'll get someone who knows what they are talking about. I have Medical Mutual and I called them and they told me exactly what I needed. However there is a weight management program that I went through (separate from the surgery clinic) that knew the ins and outs as well.

Anyway my BMI was 39 w/ OSA.. But I also have HTN.

I didn't have a wait or a supervised diet, and no preauth required. I called the insurance company and they gave me all the details with no problem, and even sent it in a letter. I have BCBS of Michigan.

Yah mine was like that too. 6 months supervised diet, psych eval, pulmonary eval (although I'm. It sure thats for everyone as I have OSA), info session, attendance to 3 support groups (although I didn't do this bc it is at the hospital I work out so I didn't go for confidentiality reasons... Didn't want to see my patients there :P) and 3-4 nutrition visits.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
