No pre-op diet?

Should I think it's weird that in all my paperwork there is no mention of a pre op diet? I'm considering having the surgery at Lenox Hill in NYC. The only thing is Clear liquids the day before.

I have seen many posts from people on here where they just did the clear liquid diet the day before surgery. Every doctor is different. If this is what your doctor has instructed you to do, it should be fine. If you are super concerned about it, talk to your doctor and see if he/she can ease your mind.

All they said was no eating after midnight the day before.

That's what mine was & I did fine!

I have no pre op diet either! I was pretty happy about that :)

I know I am thrilled about that and not having to have a drain after. That would have been a deal breaker for me.

My doc said light breakfast, cream soups for lunch, and "see thru" liquids for dinner, and no eatting after midnight.

Many of my Docs patients had to lose 10% EW before surgery, I was at the lowest BMI allowable already and he said don't bother. Clear liquids day before only. Pre surgery diets are mostly to reduce the liver size to make surgery easier, and show you are serious! I did have to write down everything I ate for two weeks before.
