8 week post op

Went in for my 8 week appointment on Thursday and I'm only down 17 pounds. Even the doctor said that they are disappointed in my weight loss. They sent me for a complete blood workup, but, Idk what else to do. I've all but cut starches out of my diet, I take in about 800 calories a day, I get about 80 grams of protein, and I've started going back to the gym. In my mind, this weight should be flying off of me. So upsetting.

Hmmm... What's your starting weight? Age?

Starting weight is 263. I'm 35.

I'm a little suprized. But i wouldn't worry too much! Your calories are right on. Your body can't maintain at that count for long. I wish I had more input for you! If possible try to get more liquid in between meals. Keep us posted! Does a anyone else have any ideas?

The staff physician is disappointed in my weight loss, however, the surgeon said I'm fine because I've lost several pants sizes. He says that the scale will catch up eventually, but he doesn't know how long it will take.

What do you eat in a typical day?

I have a protein shake for breakfast. Mid morning is a piece of cheese or Greek yogurt. Lunch is a salad with grilled chicken, or 2 hardboiled eggs (no yolk) and a piece of cheese, dinner is a little tricky sometimes. Sometimes I'll have an omelet with feta cheese and mushrooms, sometimes I just pick at things, like triscuits and hummus, maybe a portobello burger (no bread), etc. I drink approximately 64 ounces of liquid a day.

your diet looks good. I wouldn't change much. You might just be a slow loser- that's ok!

It sounds like you're losing inches, so the numbers on the scale won't reflect that. The way clothes fit should be your indicator at this point. Several pant sizes is great!
