Well, I'm off! Alarm went off promptly at 3am, but i was pretty much up at 2. I got through security without the complementary anal cavity search. Yay!

For those keeping track, I'm doing the same-day travel and surgery so I'll post as much about that part of the experience as possible. Part of having surgery same-day is that I have to wear compression socks on the way to Mexico to avoid clots. So, with a nod to Amytug, I share with you a little self-portrait of my own. Said in my best Austin powers villain voice... " I'm dead sexy!"

Jay, you're the BEST!!! I love reading everyone's MX trip experiences to help get ready for mine, but yours is a favorite of mine so far. Just enough detail, helpful pics and I appreciate how you included the annoyances, but kept it all in perspective too I've been through Medical Tourism before (in India actually), so I feel a little more prepared than perhaps the average first timer, but that certainly doesn't mean I'm anxiety free!! Other countries can be behind our home countries in technology and cosmetics, and it's good to know that going in. Really threw me for a loop the first time! But I love how you focused on the staff and the care you received, because once the I initial culture shock wears off, that's what really matters!!!

Your hospital, doc and hotel are all the same as mine, and just 2 months ahead, so your experience is of optimal help to me, as I know it will be for quite a few others here. Sometimes it feels like we're all waiting in line in this section of the forum, asking people who got off the ride how it was!

I really hope I can provide people with the same help after my visit, but I'm with you, I admire all the people who post so actively from the hospital and hotel... I can't imagine I'm going to want to chat it up just yet! Lol But we shall see!!

The Docs recommended isopure for your Protein post op. I wasn't aware of this pre-op, so I asked my wife to get it for me before I returned. Apparently there is a "flavor-free" version that you can mix in with everything to get your total protein requirements for each day. They only had chocolate at the store near our home, so I'm planning on trying chocolate chicken broth later tonight. (just kidding)

As for the dressing changes, Dr. Luna recommended a spray antiseptic, so my wife got me some bactine and more steri-strips... after I got home and shaved my belly, they stuck a lot better than the ones placed by the Dr.

Thanks for the nice words Kristina. I just wanted to answer the questions that I had going into this so the next person would feel a little more prepared than I felt.

Btw. No naked people but when I walked into the OR I did see someone else having surgery. But they were draped except for the stomach.

They had two different operating rooms, but they were right next to each other. The best way I could describe it is... you walk into the OR/Recovery area, make a left and right at the end of the short hallway are the two operating rooms... one to the right and one to the left. If your room is on the same floor, they make you walk to the OR. If you are staying on another floor, they bring you down in your bed.

It is my understanding that a few doctors work out of this facility.

Are you happy with your decision? If you could do it over again would you have went with a different surgeon? I'm a worry wart. Sorry. Lol

When I had a hysterectomy earlier this year, in the states, I could see an operation going on as I was wheeled into my OR. In my case it was a large window in the door. Had I been walking and not in a bed, I probably could have seen everything! lol it seems bizarre, but I've had that here in the states too. I think it's the design of older hospitals. The newer hospitals I've been to here, I couldn't see a thing.

I'm a little happier every day. I'm still having a few sharp pains here and there, I have to eat standing up at the moment and I'm getting some unpleasant surprises the past few mornings at 5 am in the form of acid reflux. I didn't expect to feel perfect one week after surgery. I know it will take time. One real positive is that I've lost 10 lbs in the past week.

Duh I never really answered your question. Absolutely I would still go with dr Garcia. His team was great. I would have possibly made a different choice in venue if it was an option.

I also have to eat standing up. Glad to hear I'm normal. Have u heard from Denis? Hope he's doing well.

I ate sitting down yesterday and it was awesome! HA!

Dennis is feeling great. I was so jealous of him during the trip. He had his one day prior to ours and his recovery seemed to be going so much quicker than mine.

Hi Jay. Love reading ur posts ur so funny. Question...... How much water can you drink at a time? I had surgery on the 8th. I feel like I can drink so so much liquid no problem.
