For those curious about getting your DRANK on...

Recommended Posts

Ok... I already know I'll get some but let the flames begin. I did this as a social experiment for the better of our group here who want to know about drinking and how the sleeve effects you (sounds convincing right? :).

Last night I went out with a buddy of mine - had a beer... two long island iced teas... and a malibu and diet coke. This was all over the span of about 5 hours. Yes I know its empty calories... Yes I know blahblahblah... but I drink RARELY. I must say that yes I did notice it made me drunker faster for sure... no other issues though. No more hung over today than the last time I got drank and got drunk about a year ago...

I've actually had a good week of losing too... and on a strange side note - I woke up almost two pounds lighter today. Probably from all of the Water I lost peeing.

Needless to say I've been hitting the water hard today to replace it so I'm not expecting to see a loss for a couple of days. I'm SO CLOSE TO the 250's I CAN TASTE IT! Haven't seen them since 2007!!

That's awesome on the 250s! I'm like you and might drink once a year, and am curious how my sleeve would handle it. For some reason my stomache won't handle it now beyond 1/2 a drink, but I'm holding out I might enjoy the occasional drink after the sleeve...just two more days!

I had two nights when I tested the same theory. I skip the beer entirely and just stick to liquor. Had a great time and no problems. I did avoid the late night bar food.< /p>

What makes me scratch my head is that I've read some that say occasional beer, limit 1 a week, but no sodas! Aren't they both bubbly brews? Good thing I'm a liquor girl :D

I only do liquor, I miss beer sooo much, I've had it a few times but it gives me gas and bloating so I just stay away from carbination.

I'm at a bar right now drinking Water. I don't miss drinking at all. I miss dessert most. But right now a drink sounds so good. A sweet drink. But nope. Water for me because I'm only 7weeks out. I have to lose more before I Celebrate. Good to know I won't die from a glass of vino.

well I am having date night next weekend... my drink limit pre-op was 2...after that I got silly... I had one drink so far post-op...that was in early January... I was at the club for about 4 hours and it took that entire time to drink a few sips of it... it was too sweet ( Cosmo) and I kept letting my friend drink some so the ice could melt down....

if I get the one drink down next week, Im cool.... the 3 people I'll be with are HEAVY drinkers that I have never tried to keep up with before...no sense in trying now

Im not anti-alcohol post-op.... I just know my limitations

I went to the PINK concert last Friday and then to the club. I had 2 Malibu and diet coke ( first soft drink since surgery) and I felt a heavy buzz. You definitely should be conscious about your drinking after the sleeve. I could see how someone could get very drunk very fast and then have the vomiting or dry heaving. It also seems like soda loses its carbonation when mixes with alcohol. IDK if that is factual but it didn't bother me at all.

No back lashing here...as I "socialize" at least once or twice a week. I can only handle a max of 1-3 Diet & Malibu drinks, and yes, I know, empty calories, blah, blah, blah!!! Hey, don't judge me, you don't know me!!!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
