The last time I had surgery, 5/2011, my kidneys failed and I developed a blood clot in my right arm. I am so scared I am not going to make it and can't talk to my wife or kids I don't want to get them upset. I need the surgery but am just worried. It's Thursday the 28th.

Have you spoken to your doc about your fears? Im sure as you well know.. with all surgery procedures there is risk involved.. I was very lucky and was very healthy going into surgery.. was I nervous and scared that something might go wrong? yes I was.. right up until they took me to the OR. in fact before they came to get me I was crying... but I guess it was just I was scared... but after surgery I was ok.. .doing well up in the chair 15 min after I got to my room..and walking in the hall an hour later.. and I have not had any problem.. now he did repair a hiatal hernia I had.. but I didnt know I had.. so all is good.. im post op since dec 20th and Im down 56lbs.. and Im so totally happy about that... but I can understand your fears... you didnt say what your first surgery was for.. and was the clot and kidney thing related to that?.. best of luck to you..

I have had 7 surgeries in the last 5 years. Mostly abdominal hernia repairs. The kidney shutdown, they have no idea why it happened, blood clot was from a pic line in my arm. Other than my weight I am fine. I just have a feeling of impending doom. All my other surgeries I was ok with, even looked forward to them.

I had that feeling as well and kept it to myself. It's a lot to carry around. I would try and meditate and let it go just because its so heavy.

My advice about the surgery is tell your anesthesiologist about your kidney problem last surgery. He/she will likely open your Fluid lines to full speed which will keep your kidneys functioning really well during the procedure and after. Talk with the anesthesiologist and I believe your fears will be relieved. The more they know the safer you are so your safer now than the last surgery that led to problems.

I will keep you in my prayers!

I forgot to add that drs will place a filter for you since you have had a prior clot issue. Every precaution is taken to make sure your surgery is a healthy success. Inform your surgeon of your last clot.

My surgeon gave me medication to prevent blood clots. Just remember as soon as you wake up, attempt to walk a little with help and just keep walking as often as you can. It will definitely help prevent blood clots. I wish you all the best and a clot-free surgery. Let us know how it goes.

I was given Helprin before surgery and injected the 3 days I was in the hospital so I'm sure with your history they will take the precaution as well. Don't worry you'll do great!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
