Extremely Nervous

I'm 7 days post sleeve surgery (surgery date 1/31/13). I've been heavy all my life, but was always pretty athletic and held it together well. I'm roughly 6ft tall, and over the past couple of months, I went from 240lbs to 290lbs with the help of food, and some bad discs in my neck and back. So I decided to start looking around for alternatives for weight loss due to high BP and bad neck and back problems.

Fast forward to today. Each day I experience a few different things...pains in my sides, extreme tenderness in one incision, extreme bloating, and now explosive gas and diarrhea (I know, TMI). I get extreme pains in the substernal area. I'm probably just paranoid, but mentally I feel like I did the right thing for my health, but I am very nervous about each little change. I know I'm only 7 days, but I guess I'm just looking for some comfort.

I was right there too. I freaked about every little thing I felt. But it does get better it may take a while, I just recently started feeling like myself a week ago and I'm three months out lol. Be strong and know you made the best decision possible!

I am only 9days postop but I know exactly what you are talking about. One day it's one thing then the next day it's something completely different. Everything that you mentioned sounds pretty normal so far, if any thing concerns you too much you can always call your dr or your nut and se what they say. To be honest finding this place has helped am a lot!!

Hi!!! I am just about 4 weeks post op and almost went to the ER like 20 times the first week certain that I had a leak lol. I even bought a thermometer to make sure I didn't have a fever! Just keep following your doctors instructions and ull be fine!! It is scary though

Thanks guys...I have a follow up on the 13th. So hopefully things are as expected.

I have been researching various wls since 2011 because of my back also. I was basically told lose all my weight and use my muscles they way they should be used to support my spine or get my vertebrae fused. So here I am. I am confident that down the road in a few months you will feel so much better! Best of luck to you and as always if you're in doubt call your doc!
