I'm curious how many people have not ever had a fill yet still lost weight?

I never had a fill and I lost 115 lbs. You can do it if you set your mind to it. Eat healthy and you have no choice but to eat smaller quantities if you eat slowly like you are supposed to and not drink while you are eating. The key though is to eat slowly because you do get fuller faster.

The person who has never had a fill will be few and far between. The band was not designed to work without having a fill. If I could have done this without ever being filled, then I would be pretty angry at myself for having wasted $16,500.00. I just had my third fill and have consistently lost the recommended 1-2 pounds per week since my first fill.

Wow! That's amazing Josephine. Congrats! :) I wasn't sure if it was possible to go without any fills all together...

I just got my 4th fill and am now too tight. I'm getting stuck every single day. It's been that TOM since my fill so I'm going to give it one more week but I've pb'd about 5 times and I'm scared of messing up my band if this don't let up.

I have had 2 fills and haven't felt a difference yet. It's very frustrating. I have lost around 25 pounds (surgery was Aug. 24), and I can't get my ticker to change!!! I have to wait 4 weeks on my next fill, then hopefully I'll feel restriction!!!

I'm getting my first fill tomorrow, but I've lost quite a bit so far. There are some people, like me, who have restriction from the band itself without a fill. I have had golf balls, and while I can eat more than 4 oz at a time, not much more. My fill has become necessary because I get hungry sooner after a meal, which causes me to snack too much, and it may be just because of the lost weight.

I lost about 60 pounds without a fill. I think I've had about 4 or 5 fills so about 1 fill per year. I know this is exceptionally few and I am grateful as heck!

Congrats! That is wonderful.:clap2:

I do want to add though that there is nothing wrong with bandsters who do need a fill or more to get the effects of the band. It is designed to work only when filled to a good level, which of course varies by person.

To me, it's not a matter of setting my mind to it. I spent all this money and pain to get a tool. I'd be silly, IMHO, to not make sure I'm using the tool to it's fullest.

I will have my first fill on December 1st. For about a week I toyed with the idea of not getting a fill due to the fact that I already have some restriction, but I'm with Lisa...this past month has felt too much like dieting to me. That is not why I got the band...I got it to remind me in a not so subtle way what happens if I fall off the wagon like I usually do when I diet. I want to get the optimal benefit from it so I am going to get the fill.

I asked my doctor what was the typical number of fills a person gets before they hit the sweet spot and he said that he has had a few people never get a fill because they have enough restriction with just the band. I definitely have restriction with just the band, but I just want to let it do its job and to use it as the tool that I need to KEEP me on this track.

Fill me up! I have NO restriction in this baby and I want it. I was able to eat about 3/4 cup tonight... granted I eat small, healthy meals during the day but I was floored that I was able to eat what I did.

Kind of bummed, actually.

My first fill is 12/10.

If I could of lost weight without having any fills I would of never got the band. I was sick of losing weight only to have it come back and found the more I would diet the worse it got.

I thought the band was made to help you in your efforts to loose weight successfully. 115 pounds that's fantastic! But why did you get the band? Just a question. Congratuations

That seems like a normal "bandster" portion to me. I actually eat a little over a cup of food at each meal, even more if it's salad.

Hey Tami,

Is salad easy to tolerate? I've had excellent luck with everything *knock on wood* so far. I'm going out with some colleagues from a former job in two weeks. We're meeting for lunch and I'd love to order the salad but haven't tried one yet as I'm on mushies until Sunday.

God - a nice crisp and cool salad is like texture heaven!

PS I love my band ;)
