2 1/2 weeks post op

Well I am still a little shocked that I flew to Mexico by myself and had the surgery done. I have never been out of Canada before so that alone was terrifying. But I did it. I had my surgery done with Dr. Joya, he was awesome!! I had minimal pain when I woke up and I was up walking around within a couple oh hours. The staff was great, although English was a bit of a challenge for some of them. The hotel was gorgeous and the staff was awesome. I would really recommend using Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta. What a nice place to recover. I get to start on pureed food on Monday, can't wait :)

Has anyone else gone to Dr. Joya?? Any other Canadians on here??

Hi all. It's going ok, I have decided to start my pureed diet a few days early. According to the plan I was given by the Doctor I should start 3 weeks after surgery....well one of the papers said that

  • How are you feeling now? How much weight have you dropped?

  • I didn't go to Dr Joya but I am Canadian (Montreal). I am 3 months post op now.

It is so great to hear from those of you who are weeks or months past your surgery in Mexico. I know that once surgery is done, your interests and concerns are about post-op issues, so some of the other forums are more informative for you. But I really feel that those of us who go to Mexico have a special bond... so it's nice to hear from the "veterans"!

Hi all. It's going ok, I have decided to start my pureed diet a few days early. According to the plan I was given by the Doctor I should start 3 weeks after surgery....well one of the papers said that I also have one from the Doctor that says start pureed foods 2 weeks after surgery. I find that I am getting alot of headaches, I spoke to my Doctor about this and she told me that I am probably not getting enough protein in my system (I really can't stand the protein shakes) so I will start with one pureed meal a day and continue with the broth, yogurt etc and see how that goes. I do find that I am hungry, which kind of concerns me but at the same time I think it's ok because I can't eat a whole lot anyway. Has anyone else gotten the feeling of hunger ??

I have lost 30 lbs so far and I am excited to see what the future holds for me. We should have a one year anniversary party in Mexico to celebrate all our hard work !! :)
