Pre-op Basketcase :(

Ok, I have officially 15 days & 18 hours to go until surgery. Yes, I know this because there is a countdown feature on my iPhone! I am compulsively wanting everything to be PERFECT right now! I want to have all of my shakes/protein drinks/vitamins in the house NOW. I want to get answers to last minute questions and I've already started getting my bag backed for the hospital! I bought new clothes to wear while I'm there!!! I don't feel like I have enough time to get things together beforehand and it's so frustrating. I want to get everything just right so that once I come home from the hospital, I can just relax and focus on getting in fluids, walking, and relaxing as much as I can. But the stress of getting things just right is on my mind all the time. I've become obsessed w/ reading books about life after surgery and finding out what to expect and how to cope because I don't want to screw this up!!!!

I'm reading this and kind of chuckling to myself. I know I'm a little 'compulsive' when it comes to things I really want, too. It really won't matter all that much whether you have everything you think you need. You'll adapt and I can tell you'll succeed because this is something you really ready for. Let me just say - You'll screw up :-) This is a tool we have to help us from screwing up too bad. Part of the reason we have failed in the past is that once we screwed up, we beat ourselves up so badly that we set ourselves up for further failure. We are only human and less than perfect. You will do great. Keep focusing long term and you'll succeed.

Sounds like you'll do awesome! It's a fun-ride this journey of losing weight and becoming more healthy. I was the same way pre-op, I could not wait to get sleeved. I'm 5 months out and have reached my ultimate goal and am still learning by trial and error what and when I can eat and how much. I've learned so much from VST. Don't know what I would have done without these forums. Keep us posted on how you're doing and learn all you can on here... Good luck and just relax and enjoy the journey!

Sounds like your just as anxious as I am! I have started packing my belongings, haven't got my Protein Drinks or Vitamins yet! I will finish getting the rest of my stuff this weekend! I'm not nervous, just ready! February 15th can't get here soon enough! Next week I will have my chest x-ray and ECG!

You guys are sooooo cool. :) I showed up in a pair of sweat pant and a t-shirt and some flip flops and when home the same way. I didn't pack anything, didn't think I would need much. I couldn't plan my way out of a wet paper bag.

I'm feeling exactly the same triciavr77! I want to get all my things lined up and ready. My husband keeps telling me to just relax it'll all be fine and I'm trying to get my paperwork and items in order well ahead of time so I CAN relax. Stress, spazz, stress some more lol

This has been years of wait to get to this point I just want things to go smoothly. It feels almost like "nesting" when you're pregnant, have to have everything ready for the baby's arrival lol I guess I can just say that I'm bringing a new life home from the hospital. A whole new me.

This is the year, we're busting out of this crowded fishbowl and living again! I wish you all the best of luck on your journey ^_^

I've never had a baby Shrinkythinks, but I guess that nesting would be a way to describe it! That's exactly how I was feeling earlier, like once everything is done, I can relax a bit, but I'm driving myself crazy to get there. Nice pic of the fish :)

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
