Shakes

I'm 6 months out and still can't stomach shakes that well, I can only get down about half of an 8pz shake before my throat resists to let me swallow. Maybe because there's so much Protein in it? I don't know, has anyone else encountered this? Any neat ideas to get in more protein?

P.S I can't have eggs, they make me sick, so they're not an option.

Greek yogurt, Beans, ground meats (chicken, turkey etc) are all good choices. My nutritionist limits me to 1 shake a day and the rest must come from food.

BTW I can't eat eggs either. Don't know why, but they really make me sick too.

Yes I try to fit in a shake for breakfast and get protein from food the rest of the day. I eat a lot of chicken but would like more options. I wonder if green beans would be a good idea too.

Have you tried using protein bars, some of them are low carb like the atkin's branded bars they sale at walmart Good Luck.

Green Beans will have more carbs than Protein, about 4 to 1. There's a couple of websites that have great recipes for things that you can try that have a higher protein count. Here's one that I've used that has some good stuff on it http://www.froedtert.com/SpecialtyAreas/BariatricSurgeryProgram/Recipes/

There's a couple of more http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ and http://www.bariatriceating.com/

Good luck, you'll find something I know. It is mostly trial and error, but once you find what you like, it is pretty easy to branch out.
