preopp liquid diet

Recommended Posts

Well I've been on the liquid diet for two weeks and today I crashed. I was totally disappointed in myself but what's done is done. I have been sticking to it ,but the weight loss isn't what I thought it would be for as hungry as I have been these couple of weeks. Two more weeks to go, I hope this didn't mess everything up!!!

How long are you supposed to be on the diet for? How badly did you "crash"?

that 30-day pre-op liquid diet regimen is one of the things that has me worried...I don't want to sound negative or discouraging, but my thoughts are that for a person with a food addiction (like me), the main reason I am having the surgery is to aid me in overcoming hunger and as a tool not to overeat...if I could stay on a liquid diet for 30 days, then probably by then I could continue on a liquid or Protein Shake diet for a longer time...the whole thing is that I don't know if I can--emotionally--stay on a liquid diet for 30 days (before the surgery, that is)...sigh...I can sympathize with you for sure

My thoughts exactly. I don't want to sound negative either, but thats the reason I'm overweight now. No willpower!!! I've had all the test, been to all the meetings now if I can just stick with this for two more weeks!!!!

I can't imagine! I have to do 10 days of liquid for 2 meals and one small real meal of low Carb low fat. Even that has me concerned. I don't think I could handle the 30 days either!

Wanted to send a note to each of you encouraging you to hang in there even if just until the end of today. Tomorrow you can start fresh knowing you can handle this. Yes, it is tough, tiring and emotionally draining fighting old habits. You are so close!

Hugs for being willing to fight this battle

Wow, and I'm complaining about 1 week of liquids. You've done really well so far, don't let that meal get you down.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
