Surgery is THIS WEDNESDAY! Getting really scared!

My surgery is scheduled for this Wednesday the 9th! Up until today, I have been pretty calm. But now I'm suddenly terrified. So anxious about the pain, the nausea, possible complications, everything negative! Mostly I am only scared of the recovery. I feel like I can stick to the eating plan and do what I need to do to be successful....as long as I don't have complications and be in so much pain and nauseas. Any advice? :(:(

My surgery was 1 month ago today and I have already lost 43 pounds. Keep thinking about that type of thing and lets get excited about this.

Let me know if I can help with anything,

Rick

Wow.. Mine is the 8th. I am going through this emotional thing.. worried about my kids and how they will be. Wishing my husband would act more supportive. I just want it over with. I start thinking negative thoughts and all the good overcomes.. hurry up Jan. 8, 2012! Hey... I figure to have pain and possible nausea. There are medications for that!! Best of Luck to all of ya... and will report back soon :)

My surgery is on the 11th of January... I too am anxious... but so ready to be on the losers bench. So many other people has had this operation and has had positve results we can too! One thing that keeps popping up in another forum is to get up and start walking as soon as you can after surgery. It is supposed to help in releasing the gas. And don't forget to get lots of water in you. Good luck.. see ya on the other side.

Im here with ya mine is the 7th so I be going under 1st im stoked not nervous a bit I probably will be monday as I drive there but im soooooo ready!!!! We can do this!!!!

I just had mine on dec 18th...the first week you are sore but if you walk and stay mobile it's not that bad. ( be careful sneezing and coughing put a pillow on your belly it helps).I have had 3 c-sections so this was easy..The biggest thing is to stay hydrated.I haven't had any problems.I started on liquids after the hospital and a week later I was able to eat mashed veggies. I was also a nervous wreck watching YouTube videos and hearing everyone's story's. just remember everyone is diffrent and we all heal differently . Good luck to you all!!

Hi there!

Good luck on your upcoming sleeve. I just had mine done in Dallas on 12/31/12. I had many of the same concerns, but just know you be okay.

I was able to get up and walk the halls with no problems at all - not too much pain. I threw up twice in the hospital but it was due to the pain meds they gave me - I had to take something different. I haven't thrown up since I've been home. Just be sure to get up and walk it off when you feel nausia and / or gas pains come on.

You will be told to sip sip sip the fluids and be like, well, hello, I can only take one sip and I'm done. That's normal. I am 6 days out from surgery and so much better already. I am drinking Protein shakes now and could have never imagined it in the beginning. chicken bouillon cubes are my favorite.

Anyway - just take it one day at a time and if things don't go exactly as you thought they would - it's okay. It's a temporary situation and it will get better.

Good luck.

Thanks.. good to hear from you!! Hope keep getting better! I got 3 more wake ups... can not wait to get it done!! Will keep updating.... thx :)

Wednesday is my dat too. Started the clear fluids today, and lost 10 lbs on the pre op. Nervous and excited at the same Tim.

I get sleeved Thursday the 10th. It will be fine. I am nervous too, but remember you started this process for a very important reason. Remember that reason and stay strong! :) Good luck.

I agree... keep you eye on why we are doing it and how much better our lives will be. Mrs Hall, thanks for the tip. I have gotten used to the shakes and fluids. I like the taste of the protine shakes.I have lost 10 lbs in 10 days on this liquid diet. 10 down 90 to go!!!
