For Distance Runners

A while back I posted about 5-hour energy and Gels....well, I'm here to report that I am now up to 9 miles and using 2 gels during my long runs. The gel that works the best for me (since I dump) are the Cliffs brand...they are 90% organic and do not kill my stomach. So happy that these still work for me as I have a few half marathons planned and now I don't have to worry about losing fuel.

I ran my half marathon yesterday. What a fantastic event. Had a great time and the feeling of accomplishment cannot be matched by anything the scale says. To me, this kind of thing is the big payo

Butter..the pics are great! Youve inspired many to start c25k!

Agreed. Sounds like you're getting very good advice, which is a good thing. Fingers crossed.

Deano

Well I have my fingers crossed for you my friend. You've been a big inspiration to me and many others. We don't want anything to happen to you.

Results are in and I'm back on the circuit. Threw a high protein count but that was because I did a half marathon the day before my chems so the doctor says I go back to training.

Yay!

I talked to my physical therapist yesterday when she thought I would be able to get back in the game.

She said end of April ... oye

I curse at every runner out there when I drive to work. I know ... I'm terrible.

Yep....there is a bunch of budding C25K runners over on Deans thread. They'll be with this group running marathons real soon.

Can you do any cycling or does that not interest you?

Terrific news.

The only thing she will let me do is swim. Staring at tiles makes me crazy ...

It has to do with the whole hip rotation thing. The muscles right along the lower spine at this point have just begun to start firing. At this point, part of my PT is to lay on my back with my legs bent slowly swaying side to side. 10 minutes of that kicks my butt. It's ridiculous, but I just keep doing what I can to get back at it.

I'll get there, but just like eating post-VSG, I have to progress slowly.

Hi Guys! It's been awhile since I've posted, so I figured I'd say hi and check in on the runners. :)

I'm so impressed by the pics, BTB! U look amazing.

Julie- where is the update about your half? Did I miss it? You ran the princess half, right?! Where are the details and pix lady?! :)

Byanka- your half is this weekend, right?! Can't wait to hear about that one as well!!!

Fiddleman, you are so DARN fast! I admire how you can run so consistently on a treadmill.

Mass- I'm glad that things worked out for you.

Pdxman, April will come and go before you know it. I completely understand about cursing runners as you drive by them in the car. This was me awhile ago. I had to take some time off and sadly, I fell behind on my training schedule. :( A marathon is not in my near future after all. I decided that it was not worth forcing something- the last thing I need is an injury. I will run one eventually. I ran a half last weekend and it was okay. This is week 2 of consistent running and boy, did I miss it! Apparently, so did my body- I lost two pounds!! I'm in the 120's. Never in a million years did I see that coming. Anyhow, I digressed... I'm elated to see that everyone is doing so well. Take care and keep running!! (or swimming until you can run ;) )

Glad to see you back.

Went to a running clinic this weekend and I did a little write up about it. See the thread entitled "chi-running workshop".

Can't wait to check out the chi running thread BTB! I finished the rock and roll half marathon in 2:35:33!!!! So excited and happy!! When is your half BTB? How's training coming? I can't wait to run another half....it's so exhilarating!!!

That's a great time. Sounds like you had fun. Mine is in 4 weeks and I'm right on schedule with my training.
