when is too soon?

Its 3 months after my surgery and my husband and I are considering having another baby.. I haven't talked to the drs yet but have read that the best time is 18 months after. Truth is I don't want to wait that long for many reasons. We have 2 kids 3 and 2 and I will be 35 in July.. from everyone's experience, when is too soon? I have a regular visit with my gyn in 2 weeks and may ask to have my IUD removed...

Well IMO you just had surgery 3 months ago to lose weight. The investment you have now put in should be in the forefront to be a success with this VSG. You should wait from what I hear at least a year. The first 6 months of VSG is the best time to lose as much weight as you can. If you get pregnant now you will hinder your weight loss and then possibly never get to your goal. Is this not what you wanted in the first place?

Call your surgeon.

Call your surgeon.

I agree with this. I was told and signed a promise "contract" to not get pregnant before 18 months.

I definately don't want one now right after surgery since I'm still losing weight. I guess I was more curious as to if waiting less than the year mark would be an issue.

My surgeon told me for best weight loss results wait two years. However...I've been going through infertility treatments for years and had the surgery mainly to become more fertile. Since I am 37 and already having trouble, both my reproductive endocrinologist and my surgeon agree that we can start trying at 6 months.

Thank you. I wish you luck!!! We decided to wait until I lose 50 more lbs which will put me at my goal or to wait until I'm at my year anniversary..

I hope it all works out for you!!

My surgeon gave me clearance to start TTC at 6 months - I had already lost 75 lbs and was only 25 from my goal weight (this was in October of 2012). So, I've been TTC since Oct. of 2012! Right now, I am 8 months out of surgery and 94.2 pounds down!! (7.8 lbs left until I'm at my personal goal weight (169)). :)
