Just need to vent... My incisions, esp my main one at the belly button, itches like mad. I was sleeved on Monday Nov 19. They have clear tape over the gauze the size of big address labels. OMG they itch. I am trying not to scratch b/c I don't want to irritate anything. Oy!!!

I was sleeved November 12th & I had the same problem

I just went to the doctor yesterday and they said that I had an allergic reaction to either the tape or glue...

I had to remove the tape and they gave me a prescription similar to a cortisone cream... my incisions were very pink - reddish, circular around each incision, very itchy and burning.

It was so bad I just wanted to scratch & scratch and I could barely even sleep at night. I've only been using the ointment going on 2 days and it's already going away and it should be gone within a week.

Once the steristrips came off, I had to use an over the counter anit-itch cortisone cream. I couldn't take the itching anymore. Just 2 applications took care of it. I wouldn't use until things close up a little more or maybe use just around the incision not actually on it. I sometimes have bad reactions to adhesives. I was in tears it was itching so bad. Soap and warm water did help some. I would wash the area with a soupy cloth a few times a day.

I was told to remove the gauze and tape as soon as i got home from the hospital. He did not want them to get moist in the shower. I just had leave on the steri-strips until they fell off.

i had the same thing too, glad i took my tape of as one of my incisions is infected. i don,t get my stiches out till next thursday. dr said leave them in 15 days
