I am 9 days post-op. After day 5, I found I could take bigger sips and my new stomach now prefers cold liquids. The first 5 days it preferred warm liquids. I can drink a lot more now than I could the first few days out. I had a hard time the first few days getting in more than 30 oz. Good luck. It does really get better each day.

This is my 7th day out and getting liquids down has been pretty easy so far. No you can't gulp but I have no problem swallowing pills and taking normal sized swallows.

Keep up the walking. I've been using an elliptical since my 3rd day out and can now go 25 minutes with a little resistance, level 5 out of 20. That seems to help everything.

Just follow the Dr orders, try and reach all of your daily liquid goals! Sip sip sip, never go anywhere without a drink in your hand. Walk walk walk, walking will expel the gas and make you feel so much better!

Good advice cbloulis. Stay the course per your doctor's orders. There's going to be alot of discomfort the first couple of weeks but stay on the liquid diet. Drink whatever soothes you: cold, warm, hot. Walking will help you feel better.

I am 5 months post op and remember struggling with liquids. I used to take water off a teaspoon so it didn't go down with a gulp! It really helped. Every day you will be able to have one more sip!!! Slowly slowly your body will heal! Listen to what your body can Tolerate! Gut instinct won't let u down. X
