Are there any sleevers out there who suffer from hypothyroidism and have been successful? Please advise.

I do not have hypothyroidism, but I'm curious as to why someone with this disorder can't take medication for this to enhance weight loss with surgery?

I am not understanding enhance weight loss. I have no thyroid. The thyroid helps regulate metabolism.

I was referring to those who have a thyroid but it is slow to metabolize. Having no thyroid is a dilemma. have you spoke with your surgeon about this? I'd be interested in finding more info on this.

That is my next question for my surgeon. I was just curious if there is anyone who has been successful without a thyroid prior to me approaching my surgeon.

I had to have my thyroid removed 12 yrs ago and have taken meds to replace the lost hormones ever since. I had the same fears that you have but so far everything's going great. I had my sleeve surgery on July 9 and have lost 55lbs and feel fantastic!!!

I had my thyroid removed less than two years ago my surgeon said that he wants my Tsh at a normal level before he will do the surgery. He indicated that that will optimize my success. I think you'll be fine as long as your levels are good.

My levels are in the high range and hopefully with a change in medication, I can get into the normal range.
