Re-Schedule Surgery For 10/18 :(

I knew this was going to happened, my doctor re schedule the surgery because he hasn't heard anything yet from my insurance, but when I called the insurance they told me nothing has been submitted yet, don't know who to believe.

To be honest, I was getting ready for my surgery this Thursday but something inside of me felt that it wasn't going to happened. God it is the only one who knows how things happens and why. I am not giving up and I am looking forward for my surgery.

I would call the Dr. and let him know nothing as been submitted. He might not realize the coordinator has not submitted the information or there was a mistake DONT let this wait. I had to make phone calls for my surgery and stay on top of the coordinator.

I spoke to someone from his office and they told me they did, but I will keep calling everyday, I will not let another week pass and not hear from anybody. Cause I was under the impression they call you from the hospital 2 days prior surgery an that's when I thought something was not right.

Thank you for your respond

Nai - so sorry to hear of the delay. Follow up with everyone. Ask your surgeons office for copies of fax confirmation reports or a copy of email submittal to insurance and to whom it was sent. Ask when they followed up and whom with. Ask why they scheduled surgery without approval.

Now with insurance, ask the same thing. Who approves? Get a name. Send directly to them writing them personally and explaining (not yelling) that your claim was somehow misrouted and lost.

Hopefully you will get another date soon. Your surgeon only makes money if you get surgery...so I would side with him or her.

I can't believe they would schedule the surgery without have authorization from the insurance company. That is just crazy.

I knowwwww crazy!! I just don't get it

I can't speak for other doctors but in my case my surgery was scheduled before insurance approval. In fact, I was told by the insurance person at my doctor's office that they had to schedule a date before the paperwork was submitted to insurance. So it may be a standard procedure.
