Yes, quite normal. They pump you full of fluids in the hospital and that shows up on the scale. I think I gained around 5 lb when I had my sleeve done last year, and it happened again this year when I had my shoulder repaired. It will come off in a couple of days and the weight will likely continue to come off until you hit the dreaded third week stall. Enjoy the ride, even if it gets a bit bumpy sometimes!

I put on 12 lbs in 24 hours from the surgery! They told me they intentionally flood you with the IVs due to many people having dehydration issues during the first week or two. I started at 243, morning of surgery, 9/10/12, I was 219, evening of 9/11/12 I was 231!! As of today I am 210. Happy so far with the loss. I am still having trouble getting allmy fluids and protein in but I am sure that once I am better healed I will do fine!!

I came home from the hospital 15 pounds heavier than the morning before when I got there. It is just fluids. It will be gone in a few days. Don't weigh yourself for a while. You're not burning fat yet anyway.

I was in the hospital for 5 days and came home with a present of 20 lbs. I knew it was all IV Water, but come on. It took me about 4 to 5 days to lose it all and I actually did not start weighing until end of week 2.

On that first weigh, I was pleasantly surprised to see the water weight gone, but also 15 lbs. I was thrilled and did a happy dance right there next to the scale.

The loss of lbs was fast and furious for the first 2 months. It has been hard to lose weight in the last month (15 lbs), but I sure have lost the inches. I went from 3x shirt to large and 46 pant to 36 between surgery and today. And I was an XL and size 38 about 1 week ago.

Now i really need to stop being lazy and get my exercise program in gear. I have everything I need at home in terms of both cardio, weights and instruction ( books and dvd). We will see how that goes over next 2-3 months.
