Full Liquids

I had my sleeve surgery on 9/13, and was able to start full liquids yesterday. I've noticed that anytime I have something with milk, I get severe gas pains. The only time it hasn't happened is with cream of wheat and clear liquids. However, protein shakes made with milk, creamed soups, sugar free pudding give me gas pains almost instantly. Thoughts? Experiences?

Developing lactose intolerance after surgery is common, it could be that. Try a lactose free milk, soy milk, almond milk, etc and see if that helps.

Thanks! I will try almond, since I like that already!

I used lactaid today in a protein shake. Same taste and no issues. I definitely think it was the dairy giving me problems. Hopefully the doc will give me more insight tomorrow during my 1 week follow up.

Good to hear no issues with lactaid. Yes, for sure share your experience with your doc. Hope you have a good recovery!
