Full Liquids

Im scheduled for surgery in Oct and am wondering how people do on the full liquids phase. My dr recomends 3 weeks on it and I am a little concerned that this will be difficult to maintain. What have peoples experiences been?

I did 6 weeks, no cheating about 4 years ago in a medically supervised weight loss program.

I was lucky because my doctor only required clear liquids in the hospital and then liquids until week two. After surgery I had no appetite at all so it was very easy. I didn't have to do a liquid pre-op diet at all.

It's actually not that hard. I found about 4-5 different drinks that I really liked and just rotated them. A few refreshing ones, a few heavier Soups like cream of brocolli which i used an immersion blender to chop till smooth, and a broth. And I stayed busy and didnt watch any tv commercials!

Good luck!

Your appetite is less post op so it's not that bad. I had to do 2 wks full liquids. (still doing them), i puree chunky soups, eat low fat yogurt, jello, protein shakes....

after having only clear liquids for a few weeks the full liquids feels like a treat!
