New To This

Hello everyone I am new to this, so i'll start from the beginning. In October of 2011 I went to a new doctor for my high blood pressure, after my exam she asked me was there anything else I wanted to talk abour, I said yes my weight. At that appt i was 489 and BMI of 67.7. I am now down to 455. She referred me to Dr. Tran at Howard University. My first visit was in Jan. At first I wanted the LapBand, but with my weight ,I wouldn't get much weight loss, so he suggested the sleeve. I have BC/BS and I had to di a six month weight management program. I have now completed and I got my surgery APPROVED on Friday. I will find my surgery date on Monday. The only thing I still have to do is have a IVC filtet placed to prevent clots.

I am very anxious, nervous and excited all in one. I know a few people who have had wls but not the sleeve. I guess I'm ready to have the life I know I should have. I want to be able to ride a bike, go skating with my girls, be able to fly in a airplane, eat at a resturant at a booth, little things.

I have DJD in both my knees and it hard for me to walk everyday like I want to. I have to get this weight off of me so I can start living a happy and healthier life for my and my kids. I'm glad I camw across this app to hear other people's stories, the good and the bad, so any suggestions or helful ideas would be grateful, keep u posted for the date

Didnt mean to post that pictire, but that was when I had my sleep study done, no sleep apnea.

Welcome! I'm pre-op as well. There's no better place than here to get support and answers!

Hi and welcome to our forums, we are so happy to have you join us! I think you will be very pleased with your decision to get sleeved, it is a wonderful weight loss tool. Let us know when your surgery date is and, of course, if you have any questions, just ask.
