this is my last weekend before surgery :) My birthday is tomorrow and we're gonna have what you call a last meal, gonna eat some red lobster. I had my last appt yesterday and they said I can only have clear liquids on Sunday and Monday and nothing to drink after midnight. Also the day before surgery I have to drink a big bottle or magnesium and it's gonna make me shat my brains out lol. My surgeon doesn't require a 2 week pre-op diet and everyone at the support group meeting had a last meal, so I'm just gonna keep the tradition going. The magnesium is lemon flavored so I'm praying that it doesn't taste that bad but the bottle is pretty big :/

Oh, believe me, that lemon flavored magnesium is yucky stuff. I found that if you chase it with a swig of citrus juice that it is much more tolerable. Get a book and get ready to camp out in your bathroom because that stuff is going to leave you squeaky clean. Drink a lot of water during the process so that it doesn't dehydrate you. Good luck on your surgery... And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Aww thank you :) They said I have to drink it by 2pm but I might drink it a little earlier because I don't want to be up all night, plus I want to at least rehydrate after it's over. I plan to pinch my nose and pray that I don't puke it back up. Thanks again :)

I'm scheduled for Oct 1st and I'm getting nervous. I'm 42, married and have 3 boys. I only told my husband and therapist. Yes I decided to see a therapist to help me because I know It's going to be a MAJOR life style change.

Hello,

My name is Carla and I just got my surgery date 10/22/12, and I am so nervous. I haven't started my pre-op liquid diet yet, and I have concerns. I like to eat......hence the overweight part. :) I am new to any type of Forum comunications, I am hoping I can learn a lot and gain some wisdom and helpful tools as I begin this new journey.

That's my surgery date too!!!

Me too! Same age...nervous as h*ll too! Almost was going to chicken out yesterday but today I am a bit better! We can do it and be a lot better off for our families!! PS I didn't tell anyone just like you. Keeping it quiet for now!

This is a little hint to all of you who have to drink the Citrate of Magnesium cut it with 2parts water/1part mag! this makes it just taste like lemon flavored seltzer water and its not bad at all...DON'T try to drink it straight from the bottle its just to nasty!!! and afterwards drink tons of water to keep hydrated for your IV the next day ;)

Happy Birthday Minkywinks!!! Mines Oct 15th and I'm having one great Birthday myself this year!

To all of you Oct 1st surgery people you will be in my thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and a

healthy new start to your lives :D

I just have to take 2 tbs of MOM the afternoon before surgery, yucky enough. Mag citrate is soo salty

Just Do It!!!

hsirk...no only do we share surgery dates, but birthdates too!! Good luck surgery/bday buddy!!

Yay! Good luck to you, too! :D

Hi!!! {waving}

I'm approved and on the schedule for October 15th!!!! YAY me!

I had my PAT lab done today (Pre-admission Testing) and I think I am going to be 50 lbs down by Monday morning when I go in for surgery! I am so excited! I am also really impressed with how wide-spread the sleeve is. When going through PAT lab this morning, the intake nurse was a bigger gal (around my size) and she was really excited for me and said that she was going through the program for the sleeve, too! She hopes to be a December sleever and I couldn't wish her more luck. She made what could have been an uncomfortable morning very pleasant. :) I hope that everyone has a great weekend and I will see you on "the other side"! haha!

I think I'm mostly scared of failure. I had the band and had no success NONE!!!! I was so thankful I only told my husband. My family is all thin. No one "gets" WLS...

I need some help to keep my head in the game. Long story, but I had an insurance approval on record, switched surgeons and they had to resubmit. They submitted the original informatio PLUS additional information, and I was DENIED today. My date is October 9. I have time off work scheduled, my mom booked her flight to come help me post op, and everything is ready to go. I have been on the pre-op diet since Sunday. I am READY to go, but for this. I emailed the insurance coordinator as soon as I found out this afternoon, but it was after her working hours. I have to get through the weekend and a wedding before I find out what is going on. I know Cigna is difficult, but this is ridiculous!!
