Incision Discomfort?

Hiya Peeps,

I'm 8 days out and feeling pretty darn good with the exception of some incision pain. It's the big incision and it's really sore in that area today. Just went with my husband to the grocery store and getting into the car is the worst! I laid low the past few days because I was worried I was doing to much. I was surprised how much that spot not only hurt, but seemed to burn when I was moving. The whole area feels really bruised today. Is that normal?

very normal as they are taking instruments in and out of the opening. I would suggest taking a flat bed sheet and folding it then wrapping with medical tape to make a firm little pillow. You can use this when getting in and out of the car. sitting and getting up from sitting. just press the pillow that you made against your incision sight that is soar. This will help hold everything in place while moving around. HTH. I didn't have to do this with this surgery but I did with my first c section. Well the nurse in the hospital did it for me.

Just watch out for red, hot, increasing pain, pus, fever, nausea, etc. If you don't have any of those along with it some soreness is normal.

You're not alone! My biggest incision, the one my old stomach was taken out of, hurts a lot too. I am 10 days post-op and that incision just hurts all the time. My mom was saying that when it hurts, it is probably healing. I hope that is true...
