  • It's really Dr. specific... I've read that some patients don't have any pre-op diet.. Just nothing the night before.... Consider yourself a lucky one.....

It really depends on a lot of things.....current weight, BMI, etc. I only had 24 hrs of clear liquids before surgery. Just follow your specific doctor's plan. You can always ask him about his plan

My pre-opt diet was just the day before. Just liquids etc. I did reduce portion sizes a couple of months before my surgery date to 1/2.

Just follow your specific doctor's plan. You can always ask him about his plan. I did and my dr does 2 weeks liquids for patients over 300lbs.

Best wishes and a speedy recovery!!!

I am on a high protein, low fat and low carb diet for 1 week before surgery.

No it's not wierd, but it is your new life style after the procedure! It helps with quick weight loss. :)

I was required to lose 15 pounds, and one day of pure liquids the night before surgery.

My surgery was on a Monday and I only had to do a liquid diet for that weekend before, Friday to Sunday.

dr. didn't require pr-op diet

i had a couple of unnecessary "last suppers"

wouldn't recommend those meals to anyone else, but boy they were good, don't regret - got on track soon enough before WLS :)

sleeve has been so good to me

good luck on your WLS next Wednesday 8/15/12

quick recovery too

I only had to have all liquids the day before surgery two and three weeks of that is insane!!!

Full liquid ten days prior is to shrink your liver and prevent "last supper" prior to cutting open. I have a very careful Dr. I also have a place with zero deaths from surgery. I did and will continue to do every single thing they tell me to do. I like being alive.
