Has Anyone Gotten Ulcers From Drinking Coffee?

so I tried to kick the habit twice already because my surgeon and NUT insist that I give it up because it causes ulcers. I quit twice but my energy level got so low that I could not function. Honestly, I do not want to work or do anything, just sleep or watch tv. Yesterday my energy was so low, to the point that I almost fell asleep during a meeting, that I decided that just for that day I will drink it... WELL! after drinking my coffee, I completed all my reports (due at the beginning of the month), ran with my dog and went to Home Depot after work. I have not had the energy to work out and after coffee I ran!

I just don't understand how or why I need coffee to keep me going. My quality of life improves so much when I am on caffeine. I have almost convinced myself that having an ulcer would be worth it if I could just have the energy I get from coffee.

Have any of you experience this?

For those who have been sleeved for over a year, do you drink coffee and have you gotten an ulcer?

Does anyone have any experience with getting energy from certain types of foods w/out caffeine?

FYI: I take all my Vitamins and I sleep 7-8 hours a night.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • I thought ulcers were caused by bacterial infection and not coffee, spicy foods or stress. I am drinking coffee withou incident.

My NUT told me that I could have caffeine free coffee before and after surgery. I am 9 weeks out and she now says that I can have my caffeine back in my coffee only. I asked her what the big deal is,

  • I have had 2 cups every morning with my sugar-free french vanilla since my 3rd week with no problems. Life is good. Ten weeks out now.

One of my favorite Protein shakes is Chike iced coffee mix. It has 20 grams of protein & has made my day! I drink the extra Water to cover it...

Sounds good. Where can I buy it?

On-line & they use whey protein isolate & guarantee you will like the taste. It is one of the ones that has survived pre & post-op. google Chike.

I had coffee a week out. I was told it was a dieuretic and that cup for cup had to replace it with extra Water. Told the acid could be a problem... hasn't seemed so. So I drink one cup a day. I drink an extra cup of water for it. Sometimes two cups of coffee, and so on.

My nut gets a crinkly look in the area where the nose meets the eye brow line when we talk about coffee. Very much a painless discussion. And my surgeon??? He thinks if it doesn't bother my stomach, why make an issue of it.

Ummmmm. Coffee.
