  1. Could be detoxing? But call md

I had a white tongue for about a week or longer after surgery. I asked several people if it was thrush, they said no. However lots of people get Thrush afterwards. If it hurts when you swallow, he needs to call the dr.

I had white tongue too. It went away after about a week as well.

I had it too - it went after about two weeks. I think it is something to do with the body going into Ketosis - where you are not eating solids and getting any real food go down your throat too, it causes a bit of a build up.

I just kept brushing my tongue and it soon went back to normal.

Hope that helps.

Thanks

Kellie

If it does not come off after brushing w a toothbrush, it sounds like Thrush. It is an oral yeast infection, common after surgery, high dose antibiotics and being NPO (without food or water). I was inst to call my MD if this occurs as it can cause the tongue and throat to hurt. Typically treated with a prescription oral rinse or single dose pill.

Thank you all for your reply, he does not have a sore throat or any other symptoms. Btw his urine is really dark also......

Dark urine is a sign of dehydration. Needs more fluids for sure.
